Akkurat Audio – Point Source Series

Named after the distance from Earth:

Akkurat Audio model naming follows a space travel logic. The closer to Earth, the smaller the speaker and the lower its maximum SPL required to reach reference level. Conversely, the further from Earth, the larger the speaker and the higher the SPL needed.

Our product line offers a flexible mix-and-match approach, defined by the listening distance, whether using Passive or Outboard Active Crossover designs, Point Source or Line Source speakers.

The Point Source lineup spans from the compact Satellite speaker, delivering reference level up to 2,5 m. It extends to the mighty Outboard Active Crossovered Titan speaker featuring 4* 10″ drivers with the stunning top of the Line Mundorf AMT, reaching reference level up to 6,5 m.

Our lineup of Subwoofers perfectly complement the Point Source Series whether it is the compact or the might Titan Speaker. Ensuring our Subwoofers meet the extreme performance requirements set by our speakers. Keep in mind that the reference level for subwoofers is 10 dB higher than for speakers (115 dB), placing significant demands on subwoofer performance. Therefore we have a stackable approach in terms of Subwoofers.

An Akkurat Audio System is named by the combination of its main speakers (LCR), main subwoofers, and the total number of units in the setup. For example, a pair of Luna speakers with a pair of Station subwoofers is named a Luna Station 2.2 system.

The Point Source Series offers maximum clarity and offers a broad frequency response for music and surround sound purposes.

The Point Source Series are using top of the line components such as for the internal wiring. Where we are using the highest quality, low to mid gauge solid core cobber specialised for Tweeters and Bass transdusers.

Likewise we are using Top-Tier speaker terminals, damping materials and a stunning Air Motion Tweeter (AMT) from the top series from Mundorf. Lastly, we feature the highly acclaimed USHINDI Ultra Low Distortion Transducers from Purifi-Audio.

Consistent Tonality Across Series:

By choosing only top of the line and cohesive components from our partners. We ensure that the our point source series have a matching and unified tonal profile. So it seamlessly pairs with all Akkurat Audio speaker series. Which furthermore ensures scalability, allowing for easy upgrades or reallocation of speakers within the system.

Thereby supporting your long-term journey as a customer. You can evolve from an orchestral setup to a full cinematic setup by combining speakers across all speakers models whether its point source or line source and repurposing existing speakers.

Ensuring High Performance and Headroom Across Series:

We developed the point source series to offer the highest SPL yet a broad frequency responsive relative to its physical size. This ensures that even the smaller models in the series offers high SPLs well supported by our Akkurat Audio Subwoofers in the low end frequencies.

The respective models are based on the distance from the speaker to the MLP (Main Listening Position). For example, the reference tag refers to a speaker model specifically designed to deliver reference-level performance (85dB + 20dB Headroom, 115dB LFE, 20Hz – 20kHz ±2-3dB) at certain distances, starting at 2,5 meters.

Furthermore, if you require more power or headroom, we recommend adding more of our subwoofers before moving on to a higher-tier speaker model.

Easy Integration into Wall Installations:

Our speaker cabinets are engineered to be shallow while still built from 30mm MDF. This ensures seamless wall-mount integration (incl. toe-in preparation on request) without taking up unnecessary depth in your living space. Furthermore, we exclusively offer sealed cabinets to minimize resonance and deliver optimal room installation with precise frequency response.

Colours and Visual materiels:

All speakers from Akkurat Audio resemble the ugly duckling. We design our speakers to have an anonymous look by using toned down colours and visual materials. As our speakers are meant to be experienced, not seen.

To achieve this, we apply a coat of one layer primer followed by two layers of matte black both using water-based paint. This process not only ensures slight waterproofing but also creates a discreet surface color, making the speaker virtually invisible behind acoustic fabric. Furthermore, this approach reduces costs for the customer while minimizing environmental impact.

The most detailed highs on the market

Our Akkurat Audio Speaker are equiped with the high performing and highly detailed AMTs based on Mundorfs top of the line Concert Series. Ranging from the mid of the concert series with a sensitivity of 90db and all the way up to the absolute top with the incredible 100db sensitivity tweeter measured at 2,83v.

We argue that it’s very difficult to find a better performing tweeter in this price range.

High quality components in the Crossover Section:

After careful consideration and market comparison, we’ve chosen what we assess as the best value in Crossover-level components and High/Low Pass filters.

The result is our Level 3 plus crossover, determined by Mundorf’s performance in specific price ranges. This applies to the Capacitors, Inductors, and Resistors. Given the speaker price, we allocate a fair portion of the budget to the Crossover and wouldn’t do it differently, except going for a fully Outboard Active Crossover.

This means we’d rather use a 2nd-order filter using high-quality components rather than using a 4th-order filter with cheaper components, which introduces fault tolerance and signal degradation for trained ears.

We prioritize sustainability by producing our products locally and only manufacturing them when ordered:

All Akkurat Audio speakers are locally assempled, at our location in Denmark using local production partners. Our manufactoring process uses minimal shipping of components from outside Northern Europe, focused on reducing the use of non-sustainable materials.

A Sound Experience offers a few demonstration setups for audition. While all other speakers are produced only when ordered (built to order).
